PLYMOUTH — Mamie Lee Shepherd Hopkins Terry, 96, of Plymouth died Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Croatan Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newport.

Born May 14, 1923 in Greene County she was the daughter of the late Roland F. Shepherd and Mae Tyndall Shepherd and was preceded in death by her husbands, Sam Henry Hopkins, Jr. and John Thomas Terry, Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Powell, Thelma Chambers, Evelene Shepherd and Doris Ann Grady; brothers, Ray Shepherd, Dean Shepherd and Donald Shepherd. Mrs. Terry was the former owner and manager of Red Front Grocery Store of Plymouth and member of Washington County Home Extension and First Christian Church of Plymouth.

Her family includes her daughter, Judy Hopkins Mallory and husband Bill of Columbia, S.C.; sons, Larry Gene Hopkins and wife Jean of Atlantic Beach, N.C. and Hugh Benjamin Hopkins and wife Jo Carol of North Chesterfield, VA.; grandchildren, Mark Hopkins and wife Carol, Jennifer Tester and husband Chad and Savannah Mallory; great grandchildren, Christopher, Davis, Jackson, Brynna and Melissa.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 2:00 pm at First Christian Church with Pastor Jimmy Elks officiating. Burial will follow in Windley Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at First Christian Church and other times at the residence of Mrs. Terry.
