Barry Louis Gutfeld, 86, of Washington, passed away on July 29, 2019.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Congregation Bayt Shalom, 4351 E. 10th St., Greenville. Arrangements are by Paul Funeral Home, www.paulfuneralhome.com.

Barry was born in Oakland, California, to Louis and Jean (Ferriera) Gutfeld on Aug. 27, 1932. He went to school at Freemont High School, Oakland, California. He graduated from the University of California-Berkeley in 1954 and got his pilot’s license during his time there. He married Kimberly (Reuter) Rakauskas on Nov. 27, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked as a CPA, CFP for 47 years. He loved animals, traveling and playing his upright acoustic bass. He was involved in the Fraternal Order of Masons, The Shriners, Washington (noon) Rotary, board of BCCC, member of the ECU Friends of Jazz, and a member of Congregation Bayt Shalom. He received the Golden Veterans Award for over 50 years of Masonic membership. He had a passion for philanthropy and was a generous, kind-hearted man.

Barry is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Jean Gutfeld, and his son-in-law, Daniel Curtis.

Barry is survived by his wife, Kimberly, of Washington; daughter, Leslie Finch, of Bellingham, Washington; son, Kevin Gutfeld, of Ukiah, California; son, Randy Gutfeld, of Sacramento, California; daughter, Amy Curtis, of Winterville; daughter, Nancy (Mike) Brooks, of Atlanta, Georgia; stepdaughter, Corinne (Billy) Lowe, of Winston-Salem; and stepdaughter, Nancy (Justin) Anderson, of Winterville. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

I would be remiss to not mention his longtime, cherished friendships with Hal (Arlene) Martin, of Carmel, California; David (Barbara) Francisco, of Washington, NC; and the late Lester (Zenora) Gardner, of Greenville.
