Eris Woolard

Eris Woolard, age 93, passed peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, with her beloved family by her side.

From her birth to her parting, she nourished people with love, good food and beautiful flowers. Throughout her life , she cherished her family and friends with unconditional love. Everyone who knew Eris adored her kindness, generosity and quick wit.

She was born on a farm on Feb. 6, 1926, in Washington, to Zeb Matthew and Myrtle Evelyn Woolard and was the middle of three children. Eris married her teenage sweetheart William “Bill” Woolard on Dec. 9, 1945. They had two boys, Billy and Bryan.

Left to honor Eris and remember her love is a son, Bryan Woolard; son-in-law, Daniel Mabini; daughter-in-law, Betty Woolard; granddaughter, Mary Woolard; great-grandson, Michael Woolard; great-great-granddaughter, Isabella Woolard; many nephews, nieces and friends.

Eris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Billy Woolard, brother Lindsay Woolard and sister Myrtle Alligood.

She will be remembered as a shining light, wife, mother, daughter, sister and faithful friend to many.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at 7 p.m. at Washington Funeral and Cremation, Washington. The family will greet friends at 6 p.m. until the time of the service. Also, a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at 7 p.m. at The Church of Reconciliation, Chapel Hill.

Eris’ passion was gardening. In her memory, if you plan to attend one of her services, please wear an article of clothing that is floral or wear a flower. If you can’t attend or even if you do attend, please plant something in her memory and/or, make a donation to The American Stroke Foundation.

A flower, lent, not given, to bud on earth, and bloom in Heaven.
