North American River Otter

At New Inlet, on Pea Island Refuge, this sequential series of photos shows a North American River Otter bounding across a shallow area in order to dive into deeper water. River Otters are found on all the regional Coastal Plain National Wildlife Refuges. They diet consists mainly of crayfish, crabs. amphibians and fish.
