Mark Scott “Scottie” McDonald, 55, of Roper died Monday, August 5, 2019, at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth.

Born May 2, 1964 in Washington County he was the son of Theresa Phelps McDonald who survives. Scottie was a millwright and member of Roper Volunteer Fire Department for over 29 years until his retirement and lifelong member of Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church.

His family includes his mother, Theresa Phelps McDonald of Roper, N.C.; daughter, Carlene Joy McDonald of Roper, N.C.; sisters, Terry Taylor and husband Richard of Roper, N.C., Sherry Trantham and husband Alan of Clyde, N.C., Mary Ellen Davenport of Roper, N.C. and Nan Ash of Clarkston, WA.; brother, Eddie McDonald and wife Tammy of Roper, N.C.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tommy Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 6:00 to 8 p.m. at Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times at the residence.
