Belhaven under state of emergency

Belhaven Mayor Ricky Credle signed a state of emergency for the town Wednesday evening, which will remain in effect until modified or rescinded. Under the state of emergency, town officials may restrict access to certain areas of the town as necessary to respond to the emergency or prevent the emergency from becoming worse.
While Hurricane Florence saw curfews and restrictions on alcohol sales in the town limits, Town Manager Lynn Davis said in an email that those measures would not be in place for Dorian.
