Washington police seek to identify suspect in armed robbery

The Washington Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in an armed robbery that took place on 15th Street on Monday afternoon.

According to a press release from the WPD, witnesses say the suspect entered the Expressway Tobacco and Vape shop with a long gun and demanded money from the clerk. The robbery occurred at around 2:44 p.m. He then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described in the release as a light skinned black male, who was wearing a dark red hoodie covering his head, grey pants with a black stripe down the side and tan boots at the time of the robbery.

He was last seen running south from the store across 15th Street. Behind the Hallmark Store at 611 E. 15th St., police located loose change, a black mask, a red hoodie and a toy long gun in a parking lot.
