Charles B. “Charlie” Humphries

Charles “Charlie” Benjamin Humphries, 82, of 302 Washington Street, Plymouth died Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Born in Hampton, Virginia, April 19, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles B. and Alva Congleton Fanny.  He was married to Neva Ausbon Salyer Humphries who preceded him in death after 52 years of marriage.

Charlie spent his 38 working years with Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock Company and moved to Plymouth afterwards.  He attended Grace Episcopal Church and was an active member of the community with deep involvement in Relay for Life, the Police Fund, Downtown Development Corporation and greeted everyone with his infectious smile.  He was respected and loved by the community.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Grace Episcopal Church.  Rev. Henry Burdick will officiate and inurnment will follow in the church graveyard.

Surviving are a daughter, Kim Renee Humphries and her fiancé, Dan Schreck of Hampton, VA; a grandson, John K. Stallings, III and his girl friend, Shannon R. Salmons of Richmond, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bryan Funeral Service, P. O. Box 701, Plymouth NC 27962 to be used for a cemetery monument.
