The Inner Banks Hotline will sponsor a chicken and barbecue plate fundraiser on Oct. 4 as the kickoff for the annual 5k Color Run.

Plates will consist of Capt. Bob’s fried chicken and pork barbecue with cole slaw, boiled potatoes and hushpuppies for $8.50. Homemade desserts will be available for $1 extra.

The meals will be served from the Food Lion parking lot, 625 Hwy 64 East in Columbia, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For the plate sale see Hotline staff for tickets or call Hotline at 252-796-5526. Plates may also be purchased in the parking lot.

All proceeds will be used to benefit victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The 2019 5k Color Run will begin the following morning at 8 a.m.

“Come and run, jog or walk to further raise funds for our victims,” said Brenda Wynn, Community Advocate for Inner Banks Hotline. Hotline is still taking registrations and sponsorships for the 5K run.

“Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault are very real problems, and if we can help someone who has been victimized to continue their fight to freedom, then that is part of the battle,” Wynn stated.
