In the past five years Food Lion has donated millions of meals, but with your help, the grocer can do more.

Through the #NoEmptyPlate challenge, Food Lion is  asking for your help in the fight against hunger, in your very own community.

Before Sept. 30, they ask that you share a public post on Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter including a photo of an empty plate and the hashtags #NoEmptyPlate and #FoodLionFeeds.

All meals donated through the #NoEmptyPlate challenge will benefit Feeding America® and its member food banks in Food Lion’s service area.

Through Food Lion Feeds, grocer Food Lion, based in Salisbury, is running a digital campaign to spread the message of hunger in local communities.

In exchange for one post that fulfills the following criteria, Food Lion Feeds will donate one meal to its partner Feeding America. A qualifying post must include:

– Public visibility on either Facebook, Instagram or Twitter

– Include the hashtags #FoodLion and #NoEmptyPlate in the post copy at least once

– Include a selfie of an empty plate

Food Lion will donate one meal per participating post, up to one million meals.

Posts tagging the account of a specific food bank in Food Lion’s service territory, or using a hashtag affiliated with a specific food bank in Food Lion’s service territory, and the meal will be donated to that specific food bank.

Otherwise, posts will be divided evenly among all 30 food banks in Food Lion’s service area, in addition to a percentage of meals donated to Feeding America.

By entering this campaign, an entrant is agreeing to allowing their public post, including their photo, caption, and platform handle (account name) to be used by Food Lion. Any personal data relating to those featured on the website or any other participant will be used solely by Food Lion and not disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.

There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter.
