As part of its “Community Voices” series, the Beaufort County Community College Library will host photographer Steve Orr on Nov. 5 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Orr is a retired corporate executive who is an ardent traveler and is actively pursuing his passion for photography. He is under contract with the Conservation Fund as a professional photographer and corporate story-teller.
Orr combines his photography, writing skills, and love of music to create documentaries designed to tell compelling stories. The event is open to the public.
A resident of Maryland, Orr maintains a second home along the Pamlico River near Bath. Born in Kinston, with parents from Washington, Orr is proud of his Inner Banks heritage.
Orr is a leader in his church, and actively supports Compassion International. Orr’s two grown children are both graduates of East Carolina University, and his older child, Jamie Orr, is a professor at ECU.
Orr’s photographic endeavors have led him across the world in search of compelling images and rich experiences.
The BCCC Library’s most recent “Community Voices” event was “Church Cuisine”, where local places of worship contributed food from their congregations while Dr. Keith Lyon, BCCC’s history professor, delivered a talk about the history of food in faith.
