Beaufort County families in need this holiday season can register for Toys for Tots from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 12-14 at the Beaufort-Hyde Partnership for Children, located at 979 Washington Square Mall in Washington.
Toys for Tots provides toys for children between the ages of birth and 10 years old who are not receiving Christmas toys from any other agency or organization.
Several local businesses are placing toy collection boxes in their spaces where donors can leave new, unwrapped toys. About 50 businesses will display toy collection boxes in Beaufort County from Nov. 25 until Dec. 11. Registered families may pick up toys on Dec. 15 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, located at 101 Bonner St. in Washington. Registration is required in order to pick up a toy.
Frank Etheridge, a local Toys for Tots coordinator, reminds those who plan to donate to remember all ages.
“Be sure not to forget the older children when purchasing toys,” said Etheridge. “Many kids ages 9 and 10 use cell phones or iPads, and they would like items that can accompany those technology interests.”
