Down East Seniors host city planner

The Down East Seniors Club of Beaufort County met at The Blind Center of North Carolina on Wednesday. In the absence of president Charles Smith, vice-president Roy Whichard called the meeting to order. Jim Hackney accompanied the singing of “God Bless America,” Fritz Tanner gave the invocation, and the club recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Ed Hamrick reviewed the major happenings in history on this date, and Jim Hackney provided humor. It was announced that long-time club member, John Tunstall, had passed away and that the memorial would be on Saturday.

Bobby Roberson introduced the speaker, Mike Dail, director of planning and development for the City of Washington. Mr. Dail presented an overview of projects underway in Washington other anticipated new development. He and Mr. Roberson fielded questions from the group. At the conclusion, the meeting was adjourned until the next meeting on
Nov. 19.

The Down East Seniors Club is a group of senior men who meet every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Blind Center of North Carolina in Washington. Guests are welcome.
