Donnie “Dion” Askew

Mr. Donnie “Dion” Askew, age 45, a resident of 301 Beaver Dam Road, Pinetown, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at his home.

A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by William Ray Askew and Bobby Owens. Burial will follow in the Askew Family Cemetery at the home. (Names) will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be (Names).

The family will receive friends Thursday 3 p.m. until the funeral hour at the church and other times at the home.

Dion was born in Beaufort County on July 23, 1974, son of the late Steve Rowland Askew, Sr. and Norma Windley Askew who survives. He was a 1992 graduate of Northside High School and continued his education at Beaufort County Community College, where he received an associate degree in welding. Dion used his education as a welder, who also worked in auto collision repair. He loved riding all-terrain vehicles with his son, watching wildlife and spending quality time with his son. Dion attended Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church in Pinetown.

Surviving along with his mother, Norma Askew, of the home, and son, Dawson Rowland Askew, of Washington, and Dawson’s mother, Reagan Askew, of Washington, are sister-in-law, Sabra Williams Askew, of Greenville; a nephew, Grayson William Askew, of Greenville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Steve Roland Askew, Sr.; a son, Caleb “Kade” Askew; his twin daughters, Morgan Kori Askew and Madison Faith Askew; and a brother, Steve R. Askew, Jr.
