NEW COUNCIL: A blend of new and returning members now sit on the Washington City Council after elected officials were sworn in Monday by Superior Court Judge Wayland Sermons Jr. Pictured, left to right, are William Pitt, Betsy Kane, Mayor Mac Hodges, Donald Sadler, Virginia Finnerty and Richard Brooks. While Hodges, Brooks and Finnerty were each reelected to new terms, Kane and Sadler are new to the board. Pitt was selected by chance over former Councilman Roland Wyman after the two tied for the fifth seat on the council.
