Man killed in U.S. 264 wreck identified

One person was killed in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 264 West Tuesday afternoon, according to Washington Police and Fire Services Director Stacy Drakeford.

The westbound lanes of traffic are currently closed down on U.S. Highway 264 between Clarks Neck Road and the Tar River. Traffic in the eastbound lanes was restricted to one lane shortly after the accident.

Responding to the crash were the Washington Police Department, Washington Fire/Rescue/EMS, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Beaufort County EMS and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
