Peggy Cooper Blanton

Mrs. Peggy Cooper Blanton, age 94, a resident of Washington and formerly of Goldsboro and Fayetteville, died peacefully Thursday evening, Dec. 19, 2019, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019, at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville, officiated by Rev. Doug Radford. Chad Horton, Michael Horton, Robbie Blanton and Blake Blanton will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Blanton was born in Washington, DC on April 10, 1925, daughter of the late Raymond Carroll Cooper and Melburn Cooper. On July 29, 1947, she married James Wilson Blanton who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1993. Mrs. Blanton was a retired civil service secretary. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Washington.
Mrs. Blanton is survived by her daughters, Carol Pleasants, of Greenville, Sharon Horton, of Washington, and Dianne Capps, of Winston-Salem; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Blanton, of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Chad Horton (Lauren), Michael Horton (Susan), Robbie Blanton (Leigh Ann), Blake Blanton (Vanessa); great-grandchildren, Kailyn Blanton, Blaine Horton, Adeline Blanton, Dalton Blanton, Nicole Gibson, Lauren Radford, Brett Damron, Brian Damron, Elizabeth Damron, Landen Damron, Brynn Damron, Clara Damron, Alayna Damron, Braeley Siler and Levi Siler; and her beloved dog, Chelsea Marie.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son, James Blanton, II; her brother, Ted Edwards; and her son-in-law, Lenwood Horton.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Sharon Horton, located at 29 Driver Road, Washington.
