Farmers asked to help with internet expansion effort

Farmers in Tyrrell County and other sparsely populated areas across the Tarheel State are being surveyed about the importance of having their farm office computer connected to the internet.

The survey gathers data on internet connectivity from North Carolina farmers, data which will be used to inform research and policy recommendations to assist communities where internet access is inadequate.

The survey was developed in part from NC Farm Bureau Federation listening sessions that were conducted recently for local farmers and agriculture partners.

The five-minute survey is being conducted by the NC Broadband Infrastructure Office.

Notice of the survey, and invitation to participate, was sent to Hyde and Tyrrell farmers via email on Jan. 21 by Andrea Gibbs, Agriculture Extension Agent–Field Crops in those counties.
