Mack Preston Hodges Sr.

Mr. Mack Preston Hodges Sr., age 94, a resident of Washington, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at his home.

A graveside funeral service was held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville. The service will be officiated by Steve Hill.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Mr. Hodges was born in Pitt County on Aug. 11, 1925, son of the late Mack C. Hodges and the late Nettie Ann Mobley Hodges. He attended Grimesland High School. After high school, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Dec. 7, 1946, he married the former Charlotte Marie Bland, who preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 2011. Mr. Hodges was the owner/operator of Generator & Starter of Washington. He loved fishing and mowing his lawn.

Survivors include his children, Mack P. Hodges Jr. (Becky), of Washington; a daughter, Linda Hodges Woolard (Roland), of Washington; a sister, Barbara Wingate, of Ayden; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hodges (James Allen), of Washington, Michael P. Hodges (Amanda), of Washington, Derek A. Woolard (Connie), of Hampstead, and Brad P. Woolard (Jennifer), of Washington; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea Lilley (Bradley Smith), of Washington, Haley Hodges Modlin (Collin), of Alexandria, Virginia, Dylan Woolard, of Greenville, and Abigail Marie Hodges, of Washington; and a great-great-grandchild, Jackson Modlin, of Alexandria. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
