Knox Edward “Bo” Kilpatrick Jr., age 81, passed away on March 17, 2020, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Knox Edward Kilpatrick Sr. (Lena), mother Frances Shearin Ormond (Hyman) and son Brian Butler.
A native of North Carolina, Bo spent his early years in both Weldon and Bath. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for six years. After leaving military service, he went to work with Champion International in Roanoke Rapids. After 36 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1997.
Bo spent countless hours pursuing two of his greatest passions: hunting and fishing. He gladly shared his love of these sports with his siblings, nieces, nephews, granddaughter and anyone else who was interested. He was a member of the Big Rack Hunting Club in Roanoke Rapids. When not hunting or fishing, he loved to travel, ski, shoot pool, dance and visit Myrtle Beach, where he especially enjoyed attending the Alabama Theater and Legends. During college football and basketball seasons, he was always cheering on the Duke Blue Devils. He was generous with his friends and family, and was always willing to share one of his many stories. Bo wanted everyone to know he had a good life and some of the best friends a person could have.
Left to cherish his memory are his best friend and fiancee, Carol “Babyduck” Butler; daughter Debbie Butler and granddaughter Kayla Buchanan; siblings, Sheila Kilpatrick, Mike Kilpatrick (Pam), and Pam Wheeley (John); nieces and nephews, Brandon Wheeley (Jessica), Layne Lang (Eric), Sarah Kilpatrick, Will Kilpatrick, Alexia Wheeley, Reef Wheeley, Victoria Zaragoza, and Hunter Lang; and a host of other family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
