The Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility/Beaufort County animal shelter is up and running Mondays through Fridays as normal, with the exception of the public coming into the building freely. As with all county facilities, we are accepting visitors for business by appointment only. Saturdays, the shelter will be closed unless an appointment is made before 5 p.m. Friday. Setting an appointment allows our employees to try to answer questions on the phone and screen citizens to make sure they are not experiencing any symptoms of sickness before they come to the shelter. For the shelter specifically, people may call and schedule an appointment to view animals for adoption. These visits will be limited to two people at a time to minimize exposure.
The shelter is located at 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East in Washington. Normal hours open to the public: Mondays through Fridays, by appointment only, 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, the shelter will be closed unless an appointment is made by 5 p.m. Friday.
Mario
At approximately 1 year old, Mario, an American shorthair tabby is a great guy! He’s ever-so-handsome wearing his magnificent coat of brown, tan, buff, cream and black stripes. His white muzzle, huge green eyes and rosebud nose, complete his striking good looks. Mario is friendly, lovable, loving and calm, and he will be a wonderful and welcome addition in a good, loving forever home. For more on Mario, ID No. 0263, see Facebook’s Friends of Beaufort County Shelter Cats Page. Pay him a visit — you’ll be glad you did. He is available at the shelter.
Drake
Friendly, likes people and handsome in his tan-with-cool-accents coat, Drake is listed as a large, approximately 5-year-old, male, pit bull terrier/mastiff-mix. He will do best with a loving, attentive, active family who will spend time with this energetic boy, include him in their activities, give plenty of regular exercise/play — preferably in a fenced area or on a leash, give obedience training and, of course, a good forever home. For more about Drake, ID No. 0219, visit the ENC Shelter Dogs page on Facebook. Pay him a visit— he’s available at the shelter.
