At a time when the general state of affairs is so outside of the ordinary, many people have questions about next steps. For Beaufort County residents and business owners, a virtual meeting hosted by the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday will provide an opportunity to get answers on a wide range of topics. The digital gathering will take place via the Zoom online meeting platform.
“We can’t meet in person right now, and the Chamber is used to having networking and informative meetings, so we’ve kind of had to adapt,” said WBCC Director Catherine Glover. “We felt like this is a great resource for people and with Zoom, you can just go on and listen.”
Starting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, the meeting will consist of updates and information from four sources. Sarah Bernart, with the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, will share resources regarding Small Business Administration loans and the Paycheck Protection Program, while Pam Pippin, of the N.C. Human Resources Council, will discuss HR issues amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also speaking will be Beaufort County Health Director Jim Madson, who will talk about public health in general regarding the outbreak, and Washington City Manager Jonathan Russell, who will share updates from the City and information about the downtown streetscape project.
“We’re trying to take it from four different angles,” Glover said. “Those are probably the four biggest questions we’ve had from our businesses.”
To log in, participants can visit zoom.us/join and enter the following login credentials. The meeting ID is “738 1981 3980.” The password is “0abZCs” and is case-sensitive. Participants can RSVP or email questions to cglover@wbcchamber.com. Chamber membership is not required to participate.
“We’re trying to do like everybody else and adapt and get good information out there for our businesses and the general public,” Glover said.
