Sheriff reports activities inside Columbia

The Columbia Board of Aldermen was informed June 1 about law enforcement activities inside the town during the first four months of 2020.
Sheriff Kevin Sawyer reported that he and his officers responded to 338 law enforcement complaints or calls during January, 323 in February, 359 in March, and 272 in April.
The sheriff also reported that Washington-Tyrrell Emergency Medical Service paramedics responded to 13 calls inside the town in January, 20 in February, 17 in March and 10 in April.
Tyrrell Volunteer Fire Department answered two calls inside Columbia in January, four in February, seven in March and one in April, the sheriff reported.
