Mrs. Marie Revels Robinson, age 97, a resident of Washington, died Sunday, June 14, 2020, at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be held at noon Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Oakdale Cemetery and will be officiated by Dr. Greg Barmer.

Mrs. Robinson was born in Martin County on Dec. 31, 1922, to the late John Alfred Revels and Mary Bell Lilley Revels. On Aug. 7, 1949, she married Willie Guy Robinson, who preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 2005. She was a graduate of the Tayloe Hospital School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse for Beaufort County Hospital until her retirement. According to her beloved grandsons, she made the best fried chicken, ever. All those who knew her were blessed by her presence and friendship. She was devoted to her family, her many friends and her nursing colleagues. Her mission seemed to be to serve others. In her own words, people were her pleasure. She thought of gardening as her therapy, and, as a lifelong learner, loved to read.

Survivors include her daughter, Melinda R. Hardison and husband Don, of Chapel Hill, and La Jolla, California; two grandchildren, Donnie McCoy Hardison III and wife Jennifer, of Los Angeles, John Christopher Hardison, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Alexandra Hardison, of Los Angeles; a brother, Archie Revels, of Plymouth, a sister, Mary Dare Bowen, of Williamston; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Revels and Willie Revels; and two sisters, Della Frances Taylor and Betty Jean Lambdin.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to Susan Griffin and her husband Ronnie for their years of loving care.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the School of Nursing at Beaufort County Community College Foundation, P.O. Box 1069, Washington, NC 27889.
