BCNAACP wanted to provide an area for people to come together and talk about the issues that they are facing. The goal of this racial equity roundtable is to offer an open forum for young adults to express their ideas, beliefs and opinions regarding how this nation could and/or should move forward in terms of promoting racial equity and true equality for all.
“Contrary to popular belief, there are some young adults and young people who care greatly about societal issues, mainly because they are a vital part of the population that is directly and indirectly affected by the past and present social problems that still exist in this nation,” said BCNAACP President Rev. Aaron Lewis. “So, we just wanted to provide a time and space for young adults to come together and talk about everything that is happening, as well as hear their thoughts and beliefs regarding what needs to change and how that change can best happen. BCNAACP understands that young people are not just the future, but they are indeed an important part of our present and deserve to have their ideas and aspirations heard and considered accordingly. As one of our goals to promote unity in our community, we are hoping that this racial equity roundtables will serve as one of others to come.”
