An 18-year-old man was fatally shot in Washington over the weekend, and the Washington Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify the shooter.
According to Washington Police and Fire Services Director Stacy Drakeford, the WPD responded to Vidant Beaufort Hospital at around 11 p.m. Saturday night to investigate the shooting.
Drakeford said that the victim, Joshua Curtis Gorham, had been brought to the hospital by a personal vehicle and was suffering a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Gorham died soon after the WPD arrive.
While officers were unable to speak with the victim before he died, Drakeford said that the WPD was interviewing people who might know something about the shooting. As of Monday morning, officers had yet to pin down exactly where the shooting occurred.
“They’re still interviewing people now,” Drakeford said.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the WPD at 252-946-1444. Anonymous tips can also be reported to Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 252-974-6400, with the potential of a cash reward up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
