Bobby Mitchell honored by the American Legion

Bobby Mitchell, 103, (seated, right) was honored by The American Legion on July 11 for his overseas service during the Second World War and for 75 years continuous membership in Scuppernong Post 182. Seated with him is Myrtle, his wife of 80 years. Granddaughter Jamie Koch holds the Stars and Stripes, son Fred Mitchell holds The American Legion flag, flanked by (from left) Legionnaires C.L. Reynolds, Charles Swain, Brad Gibbs, Leroy Spivey (post commander), George Haislip, Ray Davenport, Walter Davenport, and Ray McClees.
