A widespread power outage is affecting large portions of Beaufort County on both the north and south sides of the Pamlico River. According to Washington City Manager Jonathan Russell, the issue is stemming from a large Duke Energy feeder line going out of service near Aurora.

According to the Duke Energy outage tracker website, crews have been assigned to address the problem, and an estimated restoration time is between 8:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Severe weather moving through the area may cause additional delays.
