Mr. Rupert Moye Godley, age 78, a resident of Cayton Road, Chocowinity, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at River Trace Nursing Home in Washington.

Rupert was a dedicated father, brother, a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Ann Godley; daughter Billie Jean Powell; father Rupert Archie Godley; mother Francis Lee Godley; and sister Patsy Gardner.

In 1986, he retired to Chocowinity after serving 20 years in the United States Army. He retired as a Sergeant First Class and was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a proud member of the 14th Combat Engineer Battalion Association.
