Mr. Reginald Hodges Bishop Jr., age 88, a resident of 643 Front St., Belhaven, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020, at Bayview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Bern.

A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, at Mr. Bishop’s home, conducted by Pastor Cris Noble. Private burial followed in Belhaven Community Cemetery.

The following served as pallbearers: Toby Russ, Samuel Lloyd, Jay Lloyd, Nathan Lloyd, Steve Gray, Chip Gray, Bert Robbins and Gil Robbins. Chris Rouse, John McCaden and John Goodwin served as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Bishop was born in Beaufort County on April 22, 1932. He was the son of the late Reginald Hodges Bishop Sr. and Hazel Mann Bishop. Mr. Bishop was a graduate of North Carolina State University and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Bishop was one of the original board members of Pungo Christian Academy, past member of the Belhaven Fire Department and lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mr. Bishop is survived by two sons, Reginald Hodges Bishop III and wife LaDee, Michael Waddell Bishop and wife Angie, all of Pantego; stepdaughter, Vicki Furlough, of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Lexy Bishop, Reg Bishop IV, Michael Bishop Jr., Ryan Bishop and Ashton Bishop; three sisters, Lyda Gray and husband Roger, Sue Russ and husband Jimmy, all of Belhaven, Melissa Lloyd and husband Tommy, of Wake Forest; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by a son, Jay Franklin Bishop, grandson, Reginald Nash Bishop, and sister, Lucy Robbins.
