Leroy Spivey of Columbia was among 11 former East Carolina University football players enshrined recently in the John A. Holmes High School Wall of Fame. The 11 athletes all played on its Aces football team before graduating from the Edenton high school. Their jerseys are displayed in the school cafeteria. Spivey wore No. 88 when he played end for the ECU Pirates in 1962 and 1963. Other Aces honored were John Felton, Dwight Flanagan, The United States Football League’s Willie Holley, Stuart Holland, Billy Wallace, Mike Ervin, Gerald Hall, Charles Swanner, Charlie Overton, and Pittsburgh Steeler Super Bowl Champ Zack Valentine.
