The early voting total in Tyrrell County is 1,114 plus 78 absentee ballots that were returned, Emily Hodges, elections director, reported Monday.

This means that 51.8% of Tyrrell’s 2,300 registered voters made their political choices before Election Day, Nov. 3.

In the 2016 presidential election, 914 voted early plus 29 sent in absentee ballots, representing 38.1% of the 2,474 registered voters in Tyrrell.  Altogether 1,751 voters marked ballots that year for a 70.78% turnout rate.
