Coke Alexander Hayes, 80, of Jamesville, went to be with our Lord on Nov. 2, 2020.
He was born in Hertford County on Jan. 20, 1940, to the late Edna and Coke Hayes.
Alex graduated from Ahoskie High School and served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Continental Cane, Weyerhaeuser, Louisiana Pacific and retired at Quality Lumber.
Alex was a member of Poplar Chapel Church and a huge supporter of the Ruritan Club. He loved to fish and was an avid duck hunter. Alex enjoyed just walking in the woods.
Alex is predeceased by his great-grandson, Kamden Barr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bobbie R. Hayes; daughter, Michelle Vick; sons, Dean Hayes and wife Renee, Damon Hayes and wife Meredith, Brandon Hayes and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Brian Barr, Justin Barr, Dustin Barr, Devon Hayes, Drew Hayes, Ella Hayes and Abby Hayes; great-grandchildren, Payton Barr, Braydon Barr.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, at Poplar Chapel Church from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at the church.
Contributions may be made to Poplar Chapel Church of Christ Building Fund or Jamesville EMS/Rescue.
Biggs Funeral Home, LLC is handling the services.
