COVID-19 stats: Beaufort County records 55 new cases

Beaufort County recorded 55 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, the county’s second-highest single-day case count ever — surpassed only by the 57 cases reported on Sept. 10.

Beaufort County’s total case count is now at 2,139. Beaufort County Office of Emergency Services and Beaufort County Health Department know of 330 active cases of COVID-19 among county residents. Eight of those individuals are hospitalized.

County health officials also reported that 22 Beaufort County residents had recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total amount of recoveries to 1,751.

North Carolina reported 5,786 cases of COVID-19 and 86 coronavirus-related deaths on Thursday.

Eastern NC counties with total confirmed cases include: Bertie, (1,080), Beaufort (2,139), Bladen (1,611), Brunswick (3,761), Carteret (2,298), Camden (236), Chowan (739), Columbus (3,125), Craven (4,209), Currituck (522), Dare (818), Duplin (3,824), Edgecombe (2,940), Gates (302), Greene (1,396), Halifax (2,424), Hertford (1,181), Hyde (220), Jones (338), Lenoir (2,762), Martin (1,096), New Hanover (8,435), Northampton (947), Onslow (7,383), Pamlico (479), Pasquotank (1,388), Pender (2,362), Perquimans (429), Pitt (9,778) Sampson (4,327), Tyrrell (159), Washington (372), Wayne (6,718) and Wilson (4,851). Mecklenburg (53,526), Wake (36,338), Guilford (21,086), Forsyth (17,429) and Durham (13,162) counties have the most cases.
