Washington High School’s much anticipated basketball season opener against Kinston High School has been postponed.

The Pam Pack and the Vikings were scheduled to meet in a junior varsity boys, varsity girls and varsity boys tripleheader at WHS Wednesday, but contact tracing within the Kinston program this week forced a delay.

“It’s unfortunate, but we felt it was best to reschedule,” Pam Pack Athletic Director Lane Raper said. “It’s a conference game, so we will play at some point. We’re working with Kinston to find the best date for both teams.”

WHS will now open the season Friday at North Lenoir.
