At 9 a.m. Tuesday, the Beaufort County Health Department opened up the 175 additional COVID-19 vaccination appointment slots it had created to administer the increased amount of doses it received this week.
Three minutes later, all 175 appointments were filled.
“Beaufort County has approximately 12,000 people who are over the age of 65 and we are extremely limited on vaccine,” the health department said in a statement. “Please be patient as we wait for additional doses to be allocated. We want each and every person to receive the vaccine as soon as possible and we are committed to seeing that happen; unfortunately that won’t happen all at once.
County vaccine allotments are handled on a week-by-week basis. On Thursdays, the state government tells each county how many doses they’ll be allotted for the following week.
As of now, all of the department’s January appointments have been filled.
