Within 25 minutes of making the slots available Monday morning, The Beaufort County Health Department filled all of its 1,200 COVID-19 vaccination appointments for February.
In a letter to Beaufort County residents last week, Health Director Jim Madson said the health department had been allocated 300 doses to be administered this week — 500 less than what Madson had requested. Based on that allocation, the health department planned to administer 300 vaccines per week over the next four weeks. More appointments will be scheduled if the health department receives additional doses.
“Our goal remains to provide a vaccine for anyone who wants to receive it,” Madson said in a statement. “We will announce future scheduling opportunities as vaccine supply allows.
“We realize this is an extreme frustrating time for many. We ask for your continued patience as we navigate the challenges of a limited vaccine supply.”
