The Engelhard Volunteer Fire Department is holding a skeet shoot fundraiser this Saturday to support the family of recently deceased Hyde County resident Brandon Marshall.
“Every year, we do an annual skeet shoot. In the past, Brandon has always assisted us with the skeet shoot so we just felt, to honor him and his family this year, to donate half the proceeds of whatever we got to his family,” said Jo Ann Spencer with the Engelhard Volunteer Fire Department.
Marshall died in a hunting accident on Jan. 25. He was an avid hunter and member of the Engelhard municipality and volunteered whenever possible to help out his community, according to friends and family.
The event will take place across the street from Martelle’s Feed House in Engelhard on Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For $25 a round, individuals can bring their own shotgun and participate in the event. 50 percent of all proceeds will go to the Marshall family.
“It’s something that we have done for the past two of three years. It’s right across from Martelle’s Feed House behind the medical center on the Marshall land,” said Spencer.
