BELHAVEN – The Community Chamber of Commerce and has announced the individuals who will serve on the Board of Director members for the next year.

The 2021-2022 board members are Elaine Hudnell, Miriam Lamb, Cheryl Woodring, Peter Boettger, Mildred Bowman, Kaitlyn Cooper, Diana Lambeth, Mark Gnagy, Dianne Bowen and Coralee Bohach on the board. In addition to the announcement of the board members, the board has also established several new committees.

“We’ve set up committees this year, like a membership committee and a social media committee, which is one thing that’s going to be a real benefit to our members as we’re getting into more social media platforms like Instagram for promotion. We also have an events committee that’s planning some events,” said Diana Lambeth, executive director of the board. “Our directors are all business leaders in our town and have a vested interest in its success. I want to give them all the credit we can.”

The Community Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will meet on Thursday to discuss several of these events previously discussed among the events committee. These events include a spring golf tournament, a summer music series held in tandem with Arts of the Pamlico and a Fourth of July barbecue cook-off.

In addition to these events, the chamber is hosting the town’s 79 Fourth of July celebration in tandem with the town government. The holiday will be celebrated on Friday, July 2 and Saturday, July 3 since July 4 falls on a Sunday.

The chamber’s duties extend to the welcome center and Lambeth says one of the two busy seasons in the town is beginning soon.

“We have about 3,000 visitors a year that come through the chamber. That includes boaters, we have a lot of intercoastal waterway traffic because Belhaven is the perfect stop,” Lambeth said. “This time of year, we call it the parade. The parade will start in about two weeks and all the marinas will be full. There will be boaters all over town and there’s a lot of energy when they come through.”

As these visitors come to the town, Lambeth hopes for a boost in revenue for chamber members and excited for events to begin again.
