This year’s fundraising banquet for the Coastal Pregnancy Center will feature four Covid-compliant opportunities to eat, socialize, learn, snag prizes and donate to its efforts.
The first RSVP deadline falls this weekend for a presentation on April 22 at Alligood Church of God, one of four churches in Washington and Chocowinity hosting these events between April and November.
Executive Director Laura Strabley said this week that each event includes either a formal catered banquet, potluck meal or dessert reception.
“These options are part of CPC’s goal to keep expenses at a minimum while our community continues to weather the economic repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Strabley said.
The keynote speaker for each event will be Strabley herself. An 18-year veteran in pregnancy center ministry, Strabley is completing her first year as executive director of the Washington-based agency, which opened in 1987. She will share how 20-plus years of infertility, a failed first marriage, and a variety of challenging life lessons shaped her compassion for people in crisis pregnancy situations and her optimism about their futures.
CPC is a faith-based outreach that works to support and nurture positive pregnancy outcomes. Offerings include free medically supervised pregnancy tests and first trimester ultrasounds, classes that include a “24/7 Dad Program”, a kids’ clothing corner and more.
This year’s fundraising goal is $75,000 – roughly $17,000 of which has already been pledged. At the close of each event, guests will have two opportunities to donate, through either a one-time gift or a monthly pledge of support.
