Northside jumped out to a big first half lead, watched it slip away and then rallied late to defeat Rosewood on the road, 35-34, Friday night in the first round of the NCHSAA 1A playoffs. Check out photos from the game HERE.

Senior running back James Gorham rushed for 214 yards and four touchdowns on 10 carries. He had 195 yards rushing in the first half. Tyler Modlin picked up 103 yards and a touchdown. Mitch Godley added 54 yards on the ground and a two-point conversion run.

The Panthers (6-2) set up a rematch with Pamlico County (5-2) in the second round. The Hurricanes won the regular season matchup in Bayboro 50-48 in overtime. Next week’s meeting will be played in Pinetown.
