Top Three: Washington, Northside advance to East title game

Washington and Northside will play for East regional titles Friday, thanks to several outstanding individual performances in the second round.

 

  1. Terry Moore-the Washington junior picked up 216 yards rushing on 18 carries and scored twice in the victory over Croatan. Moore has 1,344 yards rushing in eight games this spring.

 

  1. Tyler Modlin-the Northside senior made sure his football career would continue by catching three passes for 148 yards, including a 78-yarder for one of his two touchdowns, running for 31 yards and adding 10 on a kickoff return for 189 total yards in the Panthers 43-32 home victory over Pamlico County.

 

  1. Walt Gerard-the Pam Pack senior did his part on defense with 10 solo and 10 assisted tackles, including three for loss, from his linebacker spot. He led the defensive unit in holding Croatan to a well below average night in scoring and total offense.

 

Honor Roll: Northside junior quarterback Keifer Boyd threw for a season- high 198 yards and three touchdowns, while classmate Mitch Godley ran for 121 yards. Kicker Chase Tomaini was 4-4 on extra points and booted a 35-yard field goal. Senior Will Godley led the defense with 11 tackles, including one for loss, while junior Terry Columbus had a 70-yard kickoff return.

Washington’s Jaden Hambric ran for 121 yards on 10 carries. Hayden Anderson had seven solo tackles and assisted on six others, while Tysheed Dixon had a pair of quarterback sacks.
