Washington High School sophomore Taylor Mitchell earned the Eastern Carolina 2A conference Player of the Year award in a vote by the league’s coaches.
Mitchell scored 47 goals and had 11 assists as the Pam Pack went 9-2 in the pandemic-shortened regular season and extended their conference winning streak to 62 matches with an 8-0 league mark.
“Taylor’s dedication and motivation is what sets her apart,” said coach Ed Rodriguez. “She’s very skilled, but puts in the extra time it takes to be successful. I’m proud of all our girls who were recognized.”
Senior teammates Lilly Francis Lobos (18 goals, 23 assists) and Rebecca Zerniak (10/12) made the All-Conference team along with sophomores Lilly Davis and Jesmelly Lugo.
Mitchell was also recognized as the Pam Pack’s Offensive Player of the Year and Davis was the Defensive Player of the Year at the teams recent banquet.
