Reid, Spencer regional champs, Sommers joins them at state meet

Three Washington High School track athletes qualified for the state meet in five events at Friday’s 2A East regional track meet at Croatan High School.
The top four finishers in each event move on to Saturday’s state meet at the North Carolina A&T track in Greensboro.
Senior Kimaja Spencer, an A&T signee won the 400 meter race in 58.73 second, a half second ahead of the second place runner and finished second in the 200 meters in 26.84 seconds. She also placed sixth in the long jump.
Junior William Reid won the 110 Hurdles in 15.98 seconds, a full second ahead of the runner-up and was third in the 300 Hurdles in 43.98 seconds.
Senior Ethan Sommers qualified second in the 3200 meters in 11:13.96 and was fifth in the 1600.
Junior Faith Nellums was seventh in the High Jump, freshman Hailey Broadwell finished ninth in the 1600 meters and senior Chandler Woolard was 10th in the same event.
