As the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year gets closer, Arts of the Pamlico has opened registration for its afterschool care program.
AOP’s BRAVO! Arts enrichment afterschool programs will be available to children in kindergarten through 8th grade in schools across Beaufort County. The program will be held five days a week from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Arts of the Pamlico’s Historic Turnage Theatre with different classes offered each day.
The schedule is as follows:
- Monday – Music
- Tuesday – Pottery
- Wednesday – Theatre
- Thursday – Mixed Media
- Friday – Dance
“From pottery with our new kiln and wheel to dance from a wide variety of genres to theatre plays, theatre circus, visual arts & more, your children will have a blast at AOP this fall,” said Debra Torrence, executive director of Arts of the Pamlico.
Children participating in the afterschool program can be dropped off and picked up at the backstage door to the theatre located near Grub Brothers. Bus stops will also be available through the Beaufort County School’s bus coordinator.
Registration for the program will last for the duration of the fall semester and will cost $120 a month for two days a week, $170 a month for three days a week, $225 a month for four days a week and $280 a month for five days a week. A limited number of partial scholarships are available and payments can be made on a weekly, monthly or semester basis. The program will begin on Aug. 23 and continue through Dec. 17, with no classes being held on Nov. 24-26 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
The first 30 to 60 minutes of the afterschool program will support all participants in completing homework assignments and will be tailored to the needs of each student. Participants are encouraged to bring a snack of their choice each day to the afterschool program.
