Here we go again. After having the 2020 high school football season delayed until the spring of 2021 because of COVID-19 related concerns, the virus continues to affect the schedule for area schools.
The Southside season opener against North Duplin has been pushed from Aug. 20 to Aug. 23 because of a positive test within the Rebels program.
“It’s unfortunate that we are still dealing with COVID,” Seahawks coach Jeff Carrow said. “However, it does give us a couple extra days of practice and it’s not like the game is cancelled.”
That was the case last year as Southside played only six games because of weather and virus-related conditions.
“We’ll play that Monday at home, then travel to Washington County Friday,” Carrow said. “It will make for a short week, but it’s better than not playing at all.”
