Beaufort County’s legislators in Washington, D.C. were encouraged by the news Monday that the U.S. gave full approval to Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.
“Today, the FDA granted full approval to Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. This marks a tremendous achievement in the fight against COVID-19, one that I hope will lift public confidence in the vaccine,” Rep. Greg Murphy said in a statement. “The former Administration’s Operation Warp Speed paved the way for this moment, which will go down as one of the greatest medical achievements in history. I hope this announcement will be a comfort to any North Carolinians who remain hesitant about the vaccine. While getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is a personal choice and a decision that should be made between you and your doctor, it is a decision that can save lives.”
“The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has been given full FDA approval, which many Americans were waiting for,” Sen. Thom Tillis said on Twitter. “It’s safe and incredibly effective at preventing serious complications, hospitalization, and death. Now is a good time to get the vaccine if you haven’t already.”
