The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is canceling its Celebrating Hope Auction and Banquet, originally scheduled for Oct. 9.

The recent surge in positive COVID-19 cases in the region makes holding a large indoor event too risky, especially one that involves dining. The event­ featuring the Pamlico Sound Machine had been scheduled for Oct. 9 at the Washington Civic Center. The auction component of the event will move to an online format that proved successful during the fall of 2020. The online auction will open later in September and run through the end of November. All proceeds will benefit scholarships and emergency grants for students at BCCC.

BCCC started the fall semester by returning to in-person classes but requiring masks indoors.
