Ted Lewis Cahoon, 84, of Edenton, NC, and formerly of Kilkenny, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the Vidant Chowan Hospital.
Ted was born in Tyrrell County, on April 15, 1937, to the late William Thomas and Martha Cartwright Cahoon. He was married to Sigrid Christa “Chris” Cahoon, who preceded him in death in 2019.
Ted honorably served his country as a Sergeant First Class in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He loved children and was affectionately known as “Papa Ted”. He enjoyed commercial fishing and his favorite past times were hunting and fishing.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Poplar Neck Farm Shop, located at 351 Poplar Neck Road, Edenton, NC. The family will receive friends following the service.
He is survived by his son Michael “Teddy” Cahoon and wife Kathie of Columbia; daughter Sylvia C. Salzer of Ohio; grandchildren, Patricia Wagner and husband Nick, Thomas Cahoon and wife Emily, and Scott Chapman; and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Delmo Cahoon and wife Sharon of Edenton.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Lenora Cahoon, granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Cahoon, brothers: Thomas, Edward, Dennis and Delbert Cahoon, and sisters Edith Norman, Alice Jones, Ida Cutrell, Etta Mae Cutrell, and Murdie Hudson
