Raiders, Knights compete in PCA Tip Off Tournament

The Pungo Christian Academy boys and girls basketball teams hosted Terra Ceia, Cape Hatteras and John Paul II for their Tip Off tournament Friday and Saturday. Here’s a recap.
FRIDAY
The PCA boys lost to John Paul II 71 – 52. Sophomore Bo Spencer led with 12 points. Classmate Devin Cadle had 11 points with 7 assists and 6 boards. The Lady Raiders also lost to JP II, 51-36.
The Terra Ceia boys lost to Cape Hatteras, 78-50, despite 23 points from Hayden Bowen. Elijah Shelton had 17 while Levi Van Staalduinen scored 10. The Lady Knights picked up a 55-45 victory over Cape Hatteras behind 24 points from senior Carley James.
SATURDAY
PCA’s boys defeated Cape Hatteras, 70-46, as sophomores Drew Van Staalduinen and Maddox Lee combined for 40 points. The Raiders used a full-court press and man to man defense to take control and limited the Hurricanes to a pair of three-pointers. Van Staalduinen also grabbed 16 rebounds. The PCA girls also defeated the Hurricanes, 55-37.
Both Terra Ceia teams lost to John Paul II. The boys fell 74-36, while the girls dropped a 62-29 decision. James led the Knights with 10 points.
